Can't Sleep? Redecorate Your Bedroom

I have always had trouble falling asleep for no good reason. One thing I noticed while on a trip out of town one day was that I slept great at the hotel. I tried to think of why this occurred, and the main things that stuck out to me were that the hotel room was clutter-free and I loved the decor. I decided to redecorate my bedroom not to perfectly match the hotel room, but to organize the clutter and create a room that I just loved. It helped, and instead of dreading bedtime, I began to look forward to entering my beautiful oasis I created for myself. I started sleeping like a baby. I created this blog to encourage you to look into redecorating your bedroom in you have sleeping troubles. It worked for me.

Tips for Transforming Your Patio into an Elegant Outdoor Kitchen

If you find yourself spending more time grilling outside during warm weather than you do cooking in your kitchen, you may want to consider creating an outdoor kitchen on your patio or deck area. With the right finishing touches, your outdoor food prep area will let you cook virtually any meal without setting foot in your kitchen. Here are just a few helpful hints to get you started on your backyard remodeling project.

Build Your Kitchen around the Grill

Your grill is the centerpiece of your outdoor kitchen. You'll want to invest in a large grill with a generous grilling surface and a cover that protects it from the elements when not in use. Once it has been assembled, you can begin to set up your counters and kitchen walls. The walls should be counter height, and they should be constructed out of a weather-proof material. Stone or brick typically work best, but you can also talk to your contractor about concrete to create a more modern look. Granite countertops give your outdoor kitchen a luxurious look while adding durability to your food prep area.

Don't Forget the Appliances

You'll want a place to store meats, cheeses, and beverages while you cook. Outdoor refrigerators are built to withstand the elements while providing a convenient way to keep food fresh. These refrigerators are typically counter height, and they can be built directly into your kitchen design for a streamlined, cohesive look. You can also choose from beer and wine coolers and dishwashers to bring all the comforts of your indoor kitchen outside. For example, select stainless steel appliances to coordinate with a stainless steel grill to complete the look of your kitchen.

Add a Bar Area

Dedicate one section of counter space in your kitchen for a bar area. Place patio stools on the outside of the kitchen to give your guests a comfortable place to sit and watch you cook. Keep a blender and barware on hand to mix up delicious signature drinks for an outdoor cocktail party, or simply use this area for a breakfast bar for beautiful brunches outside.

Build a Designer Floor

The perfect way to finish an elegant outdoor kitchen space is to add a stunning floor. Granite tiles offer a rich look for your kitchen, and they come in a variety of colors to match your kitchen design. The granite tile can be the same color as your granite countertops, or you can opt for a contrasting color. You can find a lot of options at companies like Alma Granite. Add paver stones to create a walkway from your home to the kitchen area, and plant flowers on either side of the walkway for a beautiful look. Place a vibrant outdoor area rug in the center of your kitchen to complete this upscale design.

Once you have all of these elements in place, you are ready to enjoy your outdoor kitchen. Invite friends over for a an elegant backyard barbecue that is sure to impress.
